This simple implementation of a chat room uses cookies to store the name or "handle" of a user and the color he or she wants to use for their text. The cookies are session cookies, so they will disappear when the browser is closed.

This is not a true chat room in that the messages entered are not updated immediately. The upper frame of the chat room page refreshes once a minute to load the most recent messages posted. An archive of the session is also made.
