Thread subject: Theme music for the get-together.....
Name Date Message
Shelley 06/15/05 08:01 pm Since someone planted this bug in my ear in a post, below, I decided to continue the train of thought in a new post. I won't be able to make it to the get-together on July 9 but I do have an idea, for The Celeste And Marie Show, with guest star Tim!

Price of admission: a contribution to the Name That Tune portion of the show. You must be able to name a song in which birds figure either in the title or in the name of the artist. Go put your thinking caps on and don't forget to turn on the power (as I tell my students)!

Shelley, grinning an evil grin and rubbing hands together in delight.......

Um, DaveS? Any chance an audio and/or video cam can be set up at the picnic for those of us *observing*. We promise to keep our observations strictly scientific.....
;-p
cathy 06/16/05 12:01 am We can have an observation board "Celeste just set down the bowl of salad" and a message board "Wow - ___ is really loading up the plate!"
Marie 06/16/05 01:46 am LOL..you two are crazy but such good friends. Thanks for being there for me.
A bird tune............mmm now let me turn on the POWER.
Kenny Gee...I think it was called SNOWBIRD.d Anne Murray had a song called Snowbird as well I think.

Anne 06/16/05 05:18 am Wasnt there a song called 'Bird of Prey' a few years ago? And what about 'Free as a Bird' by the Beatles which is one I CAN remember!
karen 06/16/05 08:34 am Rockin Robin?
Melanie 06/16/05 10:03 am Freebird - Lynard Skynard?
Anne 06/16/05 05:02 pm Bluebirds over the white cliffs of Dover'

RonS 06/16/05 08:51 pm When the swallows come back to Capistrano (there's a stretch!)
Fly Like an Eagle
Tim P 06/16/05 11:06 pm From the genres I listen to I came up with this list.

Bird song : Grateful Dead
Free as a Bird: Beatles
Blue Jay way: Beatles
And your Bird can sing: Beatles
Blackbird: Beatles
Fly like an eagle: Steve Miller Band
Night bird Flying: Jimi Hendrix
Broken Bird: Crosby & Nash
Danger bird: Neil Young
Wounded bird: Graham Nash
Little Bird: Beach Boys
Sweet Bird: Joni Mitchell
Surfin Bird: The Ramones
Battered Old Bird: Elvis Costello
Shelley 06/17/05 06:42 am Well, from the genre I seem to be *exposed to* most, during the school year (ahem), here are a few more I think may otherwise be missed:

Robin in The Rain
Mockingbird
Five Little Ducks
Turkey in the Straw
*Chicken* Soup With Rice

I know for a fact that I can come up with many, many more but you will have to forgive me. It is almost the end of June and I am less than 2 weeks away from summer mode and am completely blanking on the many others we sing all year long in my class of 6, 7 and 8-year olds... ;-)
Marie 06/17/05 11:29 am
Just like a bird.....Nelly Fratato.(or something like that) smile
RonS 06/17/05 03:24 pm Yellow Bird (old calypso tune)
Shelley 06/17/05 05:11 pm Marie, it's Nelly Furtado, I believe. Until I saw it written in print, I also had no idea how to spell it!

You made me smile!! Great song by the way! (I'm Like a Bird)
Marie 06/17/05 09:07 pm LOL..thanks Shelley.I knew I had it all WRONG, but I knew someone would know who and what I meant.
