Has anyone else noticed a little hole in the last egg? Mama stood up and cocked her head at the egg while peeps wiggled around in nest, and I think the whole has gotten large enough for us to see, or is it another shadow?
DaisyG 05/29/06 07:59 am It definitely looks like a hole to me.

I just had a great view of the chicks being fed from a large fish. Betty made sure both chicks had their share.
kudzu 05/29/06 09:05 am Well I just had 30 sec. glance but now what I thought was a pip looks like a normal spotting on the egg. Could be the lighting or egg was in different position. Oh boy - back to waiting, huh?
DaisyG 05/29/06 09:12 am Yep, it's what we do best! zzzzzzzzz :)
DaisyG 05/29/06 10:52 am Wow! I think the egg is hatching!...Oh 'B*** the cam has just gone off!!!
DaisyG 05/29/06 10:58 am Oh thank goodness, it's back on.... Betty's been fiddling about and getting agitated...and shielding the egg/hatchling so I couldn't see very well.... but now she's brooding again. I'm sure my eyes weren't deceiving me and we now have chick no. 3.
DaisyG 05/29/06 11:09 am I just read Mickey's observation and it tallies with what I saw.
Mickey 05/29/06 11:34 am Thanks Daisy. You should post your obs. Its good if one ob is confirmed by others. Plus you might report something just alittle differently then me or others. Which makes reading the obs that much better. All my obs have their times adjusted so if your reading this Dave you can zero in easier if you require clips.
DaisyG 05/29/06 11:39 am I should shouldn't I Mickey? I just got so excited and posted here instead!
I saw all three chicks a little while ago and Betty nibbling on the eggshell.
Then Dennis joined them briefly, no doubt to check on the new arrival.
Madeline 05/29/06 11:47 am Welcome to the world little guy. Hopefully you'll survive this rough nest inviroment and make it at ture Memorial Day. Wow look how big chick #1 is, how fast they grow.
Mickey 05/29/06 11:52 am yes you should Daisy
Kathy 05/29/06 01:46 pm I see the "Little Guy" has arrived. Hang in there!
kudzu 05/29/06 05:36 pm Well it's good to see that this time the "spot" on the egg really was a PIP. And the baby chick is a "pip" too! Congrats to the happy family.
