No-one on this Message Board or the Obs Board has seen Flag fledge yet. He has done plenty of flapping, jumping and hovering, but to our knowledge he has not actually flown from the nest yet. |

Flag did not fledge this morning. And as far as I can determine, there has always been "someone" whose cam has been working during the course of the day. I would also suspect, that if Flag did fledge, he would have been away from the nest for a length of time, and our observations cover each hour of the day. |

I am confident Flag has not left this nest. Plenty of good hovers today, straight up, even out of cam range for a second but only over the nest. At the second alleged time he was eating a fish. |

Geez, some of those posters at that message board have been very unkind to Tiger and he didn't even do anything except tell them that Flag did not fledge. |

Exactly my thoughts. Best to leave it alone, as Tiger has done there. One cannot be friends with everyone, though one can still be civil. |

Barbee Mill? Not a site I am even familiar with, how on earth could I miss one? Sounds like it is in the UK? URL anyone? If they are picking on Tiger I most certainly will not want to play with them but I would like to check it out. |

There's a live streaming cam there with 3 beautiful osprey chicks. |

If they're like that, then I certainly shan't bother. This message board is a joy and a delight simply because for the vast majority of the time everyone shows respect to everyone else. Why do some people find that so very difficult? It's beyond me. They'd better not come this way though :( Let them stay right where they are - we don't need them. |

Anne, ditto, I agree with everything you said. It's wonderful here. And the malcontents over there can stay there and bicker and argue all they want, but I hate to see Tiger getting picked on for trying to help and set things straight. |

I just looked in again at the Washington State board. It's too bad that there seem to be some juvies over there that are not on the nest. This happened at the Victoria/Sidney eagle site, too, for no good reason. Some people seem to be too immatue for joint nature watching, I'm afraid. There were what are called "Trolls" on that eagle list, and it was not pleasant to see the trouble they stirred up. Some people were worried about the younger chick, as we have all been worried about Flag on and off, especially when he doesn't get to eat. One person would say something like, "I worry about Sid not being able to eat." A troll would answer, "Don't worry, as there is only one left now, anyway." This of course was a malicious false statement, just meant to hurt others. I always suspect that teeanagers grounded by their parents are the posters of stuff like that. Nothiing to do, and mad at the world.
Anyway, Tiger does not deserve the wrath of dozens for stating the facts. Watching a nest is not a competition, for goodness sake. Cheer up, Tiger. We know how much you love the ospreys, how you take care of them and us, and how you love the truth. Flag will fledge when he's ready, and we will send him cards:-). And watch the video.

I had been unaware of the Renton site before this. Lovely nesting spot! I saw one of "their" ospreys take a dive right into the water. Beautiful. Some weird people over there, though. |

Ah, Renton, WA. I like the view from above and the birds have some very colorful trash in the nest. The forum/blog is something else. Think I'll stay out of that! Thanks for the info on the site, will keep me going a bit longer. Still have the grizzlies in Alaska for a while and soon - Pete's Pond in Africa!!! Also, first egg at Frieda and Frodo in Brisbane, peregrines. And for now, it's time Flag! |

I love the grizzlies in Alaska. They just wade right into the most powerful water. Very interesting grizzly relationships. Kind of reminds me of the company where I used to work. |
