I was catching up with Tai and saw the latest entry which is hysterical. Also, a reminder that on January 11 on Animal Planet, Tai's First Year will be shown... see...
HERE
"On Christmas Day, the Zoo staff on duty were permitted to leave two hours early. However, this was not part of Tai’s plans for the day. He was up a tree and in the rain, until 4 p.m. When Tai finally ambled indoors, he was soaking wet and sporting a very spiky hairdo. Tai Shan still has the long fuzzy coat of a panda cub, and water makes his coat all spiky. Water drips off of the spikes, leaving his skin almost dry. The spikes around his ears make him the most endearing juvenile—and, in this case, delinquent—panda. Tai Shan weighed in at 87 pounds the next day. This was his dry weight!" |

Celeste, the APL site says the program will be on Jan. 7, 8, and 14. Did you see Jan. 11 somewhere else? Just wanted to be sure.
The zoo is saying Jan. 7 for the premiere, too. |

I "thought" on this site it was the dates you mentioned, but when I doublechecked the above link said the January 11th date. I went to the Animal Planet site which is where I got the above link that has the different dates. I thought it was strange that it was on a Thursday night also. hmmm..... |

Checking again and is this going to be a "series"
It says on the link I found "Series" Panda Celebration and then "Meet the Pandas" Washington's New Power Couple with the dates you have and the Panda Site...The other dates I have is for Baby Pandas First Year, and I was assuming it meant Tai.
The January 7th dates and times are

"Meet the Pandas" is an older show. I have that on tape from the zoo. They might plan to rerun it along with the new Tai special.
"Meet the Pandas" is good -- it shows how Mei and Tian Tian came from China to the US before Tai was born. |

Was just watching Tai and mom, and can see how rambuntious Tai is. He kept climing over Mei, so she got up and went into an adjacent area and Tai just ran after her and keeps trying to get her to play. Guess panda cubs are like human kids, an overabundance of energy, when "mom" needs to rest! Also I saw that the panda first year is said to be Jan. 7, at 8PM on Animal Planet. Can't wait till Mai Lan can climb and tussle with her mom too. |
