Just tuned in to hear some lovely chirps from I believe it was our Betty. She's now on the cam perch. |

I am SO sorry - I did a video capture that somehow corrupted itself and then the cam stopped and started over - I could not even rewind. :( |

Have any of the osprey who have been seen on this nest this season been vocal? |

not that I know Tim |

I dont believe you asked that Tim.Because I'm on the phone with Celeste and asked the same exact thing!
We didnt recall the others being as vocal as this female or vocal at all. This ones singing up a storm.
I was going to agree with Terry had I saw her in the nest longer. The only thing I can say with certainty is that it is a female.

I just returned from the nest neighborhood. I saw & heard no osprey tonight. Im thinking this bird just flew in and is claiming its territory. I saw one yesterday hovering over the boat yard and then proceeded to the bay.Thanx Terry. |

My luck - I tune in two minutes later and she's gone. Whoever was previously on the nest was quite vocal when it appeared the nest was being approached. Perimeter defense? |

I just hear the sweet chirp again after I hung up with Mickey. Oh the sweet sound of chirps. This is the first time we have heard an osprey chirp at the nest since the cam has been up for sure! All day I was wondering if one would finally arrive by the end of the day! Fingers crossed! |

Here's a sound capture for those who are latecomers. Mea Maxima Culpa for messing up the video capture. |

Since sightings of osprey in the area are meager, I would tend to agree with Celeste. But you never can tell who might be flying around down there. I left from there @ 6pm. nothing was in the air, the wind is terribly cold and strong. |

Nice Cathy, and definitely no apologies necessary. When I see all the captures, sounds, and videos that the observers do now I can't help but think what progress we have made in record keeping, especially since 2003! |

We are expecting a cold front during the night unfortunately...as long as we don't have any late spring snow. |

Thanks Cathy! How sweet it is! It's my first time this season hearing an Osprey sound from the DPOF nest. |

Like I said earlier in my trip this a.m. to Beaver Dam Rd./Squassux Landing ... the nest across the river had 1 osprey in it and the other nest I observed next to the Wertheim NWR nest (about 200-300 yds away) also had an osprey in it. neither birds were vocalizing. Nor was their any activity around the DPOF nest as Tim also reported. I guesstimated that the other female we saw a few times earlier this week was probably resting b4 she continued her trip up north. Could very well be wrong, just have a gut feeling that this bird is Betty. What the hell, you can only guess wrong once, twice, three xxxx etc. |

Great sound capture Cathleen. I missed seeing or hearing anyone on the nest but at least this is encouraging! I hope Celeste AND Mickey are right..."Hi honey, I'm home...did you pick up any take out?" |
