Thread subject: Eaglets haven't fledged yet.
Name Date Message
Marie 07/13/04 01:01 am Two big eaglets sitting all alone high in the tree when I arrived. They had hopped and flapped their way almost to the end of their branches so they could look out across the water to the Islands where they could see their parents. After 90 mins I returned home as there was NO dinner again. It was a very still, bright, warm evening down at the beach, but not the best weather or time for making a KILL, it seeemed, if one was an Eagle. Fishing must have been poor today. The Eaglets sounded real hungry tonight. Perhaps at twilight the fishing got better. Who knows..I wasn't there.
Marie 07/14/04 01:39 am Down to the beach I went once again at the end of the day. Both Eaglets were out on separate branches...guess they are really learning to be...'BRANCH MANAGERS' before they take on the big portfolio of 'FLIGHT School' I will hazzard a guess and say the 15th of July for Fledging! Mom eagle was in the tree hiding, and Dad was out trying to get a fish. I gave up waiting for 'delivery' so ordered supper on the FLY...it never came either! What those eaglets have to put up with!!! SO... I went to the other end of the beach(for a change) to watch a River Otter catch and EAT it's supper from the shallows,( may have been fish or crab) and then three adult Caspian Terns flew by repeatedly and they were much more successful diving from above and catching their supper. Tiny, slippery, silver sandlance( fish)that kept jumping out of the water with great exhuberance. I got hungry and went home...for more FISH supper!
