Thread subject: what's in the nest?
Name Date Message
Shelley 04/12/04 03:52 pm I just saw the changing of the guard again and the 3 eggs all look the same colour to me now. My observation of one looking darker must have been due to the lighting at that time.

But is it my imagination or is there some big thing in the nest, behind and to the right of Betty? At around the one o'clock position. It looks like a fish or animal but I can't tell. I didn't think they left food in the nest because of attracting bugs, etc. Not to mention, the smell. But what do I know? Maybe it's a room deodorizer!
Dave S 04/12/04 04:19 pm Shelley, Ospreys have a terrible sense of smell, so good housekeeping for them is not a priority!
Mickey 04/12/04 04:41 pm those are 2 clumps of sea weed Shelly. Well at 4:42 they are.
Shelley 04/12/04 04:59 pm Do they eat the seaweed, as well, or is it just used for soft bedding in the nest? I've seen them pecking at it and moving it around. It sure looks, well, *furry* comes to mind....
