Thread subject: possible remains found.......

Rich 07/31/04 05:39 pm I was hiking earlier today in Lloyd Harbor, Huntington and came across what I thought might be the remains of a juvenile osprey. The Hills where I found the remains overlook a spot where in the past several nesting platforms were setup. I don't know if anyone tracks the birds in that area and there was'nt much left of the bird but I thought someone might be interested nonetheless
Marie 07/31/04 06:42 pm That is sad RICH...one never wants to know about the young perishing but stats tell us that 50% of the young will die before they reach one year of age. That is why so many birds lay four or more eggs. Two to replace the parents one day and the rest insurance for the first two hatched I guess.
