Nancy L 08/01/04 08:47 pm My husband & I will be taking a drive "out west" in a few weeks. It looks like we will be staying across the water from you in Mt. Vernon, Washington. We will be there on the night of Sept. 1. So I'll be thinking of you across the water. What is the name of that water? I see a few islands, such as San Juan, etc.
Marie 08/01/04 10:28 pm That body of water is called the Strait of Juan de Fuca. It connects us to port Angeles and further south is Seattle. We see all the Olympic Mountains from here. Not so great a view for those in Washington looking at us over here in Victoria on Vancouver island. Fairly flat around the Victoria area. But it is great to know that you Nancy are just across the water.I can't find it in my ATLAS so not sure exactly where it is. If you come so far west you really should stop off in Victoria you know. ;-)) It would be great to see some of the wonderful people who post OBS and messages. Big smile. Let me know if it is a possibility or I could come over on the ferry to Port Angeles and visit for the day.
Nancy L 08/02/04 08:56 pm Looking at my atlas, Mt. Vernon is hiding from you behind an island with a town called Oak Harbor. There is a Rt. 20 that goes from the Washington mainland onto that island. Mt. Vernon is about 9 miles south of the Rt. 20. I would love to visit you but our trip of more than 3 weeks is just filled up. We will be heading from there to Oregon to visit a childhood friend.
Marie 08/03/04 12:32 am Thanks Nancy. It will be nice to know you are close. Email me and I will let you have my phone number should you want to call me. Hope you have a wonderful trip. The west coast all along the Washington and Oregon coast is wild and BEAUTIFUL.. You will love it.
