Thread subject: Tiger's other birds in the nest
Name Date Message
Dave S 08/02/04 04:57 pm Tiger, the birds you saw this morning were Mourning Doves. They generally poke around looking for seeds and are rather slow-witted. The bird that chased them was a Common Grackle. They will eat scraps, bugs and worms, etc..
Tiger 08/02/04 07:50 pm Oh thanks for that Dave. It so happens I was reading about Mourning Doves in another place today too. Now I know what they look like!

Shelley 08/02/04 08:17 pm I have mourning doves around my place all the time. Remember those 2 baby birds I found on my lawn a few weeks ago who I tried (unsuccessfully) to save? They were mourning doves. It is true, they aren't very bright and they build the sloppiest of nests, but their cooing sound is one of the most gentle and soothing sounds I've ever heard.
Dave S 08/02/04 09:19 pm Shelley,
They are Doves, their voice is very soothing, but they are very easy targets for predators. They are also very handsome birds, subtle colors and feathers.
Tiger 08/03/04 07:27 pm Thinking about this title again? :)
Marie 08/04/04 02:44 am LOL........Tiger! That title could me mis-interpreted in a few ways! I think I have a hunch as to what you might be thinking...;-)
