Matt 04/14/04 11:35 pm "I read recently that Bald Eagles, one of my all time favorite birds, have a nasty habit of stealing fish from Ospreys when they are flying home with their bounty. Constant threat from the skies as Dennis tries to provide for his family Does any one know if there are Bald Eagles in this area?"

Marie, as far as I know there are no bald eagles on Long Island. I have never seen one but that doesn't mean they may have been here at one time or another.

Has anyone ever seen one here?
Jack 04/15/04 12:34 am There are definitely Bald Eagles that occassionally make an appearance on the island....In fact there was one hanging out in Southaven Park this winter
Tim 04/15/04 03:50 pm While fly fishing at Connetquot 2 summers ago I saw a Bald eagle he was also fishing. I heard this bird fly over my head, that's how close and big he was.
Matt 04/15/04 07:34 pm Jack, Tim, thanks for the information. I myself have never seen one here. Wish that I could. But glad to know that they are around.
Tim 04/15/04 10:10 pm Matt I don't know where you live but I can share a very good spot to observe Red-tails, American Kestrels,Blue birds, and by night Great Horned Owls.
