Nancy L 08/05/04 08:48 pm Just back from an evening walk. As I neared the Connetquot River, I could hear quite a few osprey calls. The nest by the field had one youngster on it. The nest in the living pine tree also had 1, calling loudly. The nest in the old, dead tree had 2 osprey calling out. On my way back, another look at the nest by the field showed it empty, but then I heard the calls from a tree halfway up the edge of the field. There were 2 osprey on branches. Looked like one was eating & the other complaining because it wasn't eating. The River was beautifyl - almost like a mirror. Really enjoyable walk & NO BUGS!!
Marie 08/05/04 09:16 pm Great. Isn't it exciting? To hear the call of the WILD ...makes my heart race. Wonderful to know there are so many ospreys around and doing well. Thank you for your sighting. The bugs are at Brookhaven. Take a peek at the nest tonight and listen...lots of BUGS.
