Thread subject: Incredible Eye sight of Ospreys.

Marie 08/12/04 09:57 pm I was reading in the Scottish Daily Diary from Loch Garten that ospreys can see a long way off. It was reported that even juveniles in the nest has extremely keen eye sight too. I have noted as well during my sojourns at the nest that the young start calling in anticipation of food drop off long before I see the adult come into view. Those osprey chicks in Scotland were timed and it appeared for one minute before the adult arrived at the nest the young behaved as though the parent was seen bringing in the food. I wonder what distance away is one minute?I know all raptors have incredible eye sight but when it is put in these terms it really is amazing.
