Matt 04/18/04 08:43 am "Just about all I can tell for sure (duh!) is that they are black and have a light-coloured beak!"

Shelley, that sounds like a starling. Its the only north-eastern bird in that color that I could find. Definitely not a red-winged blackbird as their beak is black.
Shelley 04/18/04 08:47 am Good sleuthing, Matt! Thanks! Well, then, the red-wings sure like hanging out in this neighbourhood, too, don't they? ;-)
Jack 04/18/04 08:52 am You're right on the money Matt. I have seen redwings there...but the ones that are contantly showing up ....and probably do have a nest there are starlings. As much as I love birds...the starlings are a pest that was brought over from Europe by species Homo Sapien. Another reason why man should not be allowed to mess with Mother Nature
