Nancy L 05/07/04 01:49 pm I was walking again at the Bayard Cutting Arboretum yesterday. I feel quite sure now that there are two pairs of osprey nesting in the north/east loop walk (across from the Dowling College Library building.
Both pair are nesting in "natural" trees: one, easy to see in an old, dead tree. They nested there last year also. That tree & nest may go down in the next hurricane! The other is harder to spot; you have to see the birds or hear them call, but I believe they are in the top of a living pine tree. I will keep watching every week, if possible.
