So I guess Betty was gone for at least 1/2 hour, because I watched from 12:11 until you tuned in.
Tim 05/08/04 08:06 pm Hi, Sometimes it's hard to tell who is who. I look at the head feathers. The pattern on the females head as you see her from behind is similiar to a trident or maybe a peace sign.
The head of the male is a bit darker as you see him from the back. It's not often I get to watch the nest for long periods but today I was catching up on paperwork at my desk.Today I also saw a crow swoop down on the nest the female dodged it and kept her ground on the eggs.Crows enjoy stealing young birds from their nest's.
Did you know that a group of Crows are referred to as a Murder of crows rather then flock ? Seems appropriate for them.
Nancy L 05/09/04 10:41 am Thanks, Tim - I never heard of a murder of crows!
