Thread subject: Banding DP Chicks
Name Date Message
Anne 06/19/05 09:12 am Are the DP chicks not going to be banded? It seems such a shame if they are not.
Melanie 06/19/05 09:16 am No, these never get banded and are never in direct contact with humans.
Anne 06/19/05 09:48 am Can I ask why not please?
Tiger 06/19/05 10:10 am This is uncensored nature!! No human intervention.
Anne 06/19/05 10:49 am Hmmmn, interesting. There are certain organisations in this country who NEVER miss an opportunity to ring a bird.
RonS 06/19/05 11:13 am I believe that since this nest is on a Federal Wildlife refuge, one of the regulatrions is a strict "Look but don't touch" policy. This was the cause of great concern during the first year when many if witnessed nest aggression for the first time. There was a great hue and cry to save the beleaguered third chick.
Celeste 06/19/05 04:06 pm You are right Ron.....the property is owned by the Government....FWR....and it is definitely "look but don't touch"!
