The chick's voices are sounding more and more like their mother's. ( specialy when they're left alone in the nest. |

I think so too. When Betty is there, they are much more babylike. They are just like human children arnt they. The other day Betty made an alarm call and flew off, leaving the chicks in the freeze position. Of course they were only still for 4-5 mins and soon started wriggling about. Then when they saw her returning they started calling - but just as she landed went back into freeze mode. It just reminded me of a child leaping back into bed and pretending to be asleep when Mum pops in the room! |

BTW Anne "freeze mode" is known as "submissive".

Or "assuming the position" :-p She teaches them to do that - they are supposed to flatten themselves down into the nest to be less visible when she gives the call. But you know what the attention span of kids is like .........
