Thread subject: WHOI nest today
Name Date Message
Melanie 06/23/05 10:01 am All three chicks are still there - the two elder chicks are peering out the nest and the third chick is in the bowl - he's just starting to get in his wingtip feathers
Mickey 06/23/05 12:34 pm looks good for them to all fledge barring a tragedy.
Ivy 06/23/05 04:27 pm Just checked the Woods Hole nest and one of the chicks appeared quite inquisitive, moving from the center of the nest to about one o'clock position and peering out interestedly. Then I caught a flash of red down and below the nest, and sure enough, they've got a RWBB doing some fly-bys and apparently even landing on the edge of the nest about 8 o'clock position twice while I was watching. The mother osprey has taken notice and is alert as the RWBB flies by several more times and the chicks get hunkered down, probably at her command.
Mickey 06/23/05 07:25 pm I just watched a RWBB dive bombing this nests female and sit on her tail THREE different times! lol
