Thread subject: Message for Tiger and Pam re Real Player
Name Date Message
Anne 06/23/05 06:06 pm Thanks for your advice on the Real Player. I have now established from a techno member of the family that my laptop does not have enough RAM.

BUT - I did what you advised Pam and I found the Tools on the Double Arrow symbol (I dident realise there was anything there!), and I manage to up the colour. Brilliant - the birds are still black/whitish but I saw the red wings of the RWBB as it divebombed Betty. So thanks for that.

I dont know if this is true, but I have been told that popular webcam sites have to narrow their band width to accommodate all their viewers, and this affects the colour. This might account for me being able to see the ospreys colours at sunrise, when there are fewer people watching.
Tiger 06/23/05 06:47 pm Oh good....the diagnosis was correct. You can never have too much RAM!

Yes our bandwidth get rationed at times of high demand. When I have only to share it with you and Celeste at sunrise I get my full 225 KBits per secs. However at times of high demand it falls down to 20 KBits per second and then the picture is not good.

That has not happened for quite some time.

There is a third rationing system where if you are not watching (ie not moving the mouse occasionally) the picture sort of freezes. That happens a lot.
Anne 06/24/05 07:31 am I got Betty in glorious colour this morning. The chicks are darker brown anyway arnt they?

BTW, I was also advised to try the Windows player to see if its any better. Do you know anything about that? I dont want to mess now I've got an improvement.
Tiger 06/24/05 08:11 am I do not think you can use Windows Player here as it specifies Real Player. Unless someone else knows different.
Pam 06/24/05 09:52 am I was not on the computer last night Anne so missed your messages - glad you got some colour.
