Tiger 06/24/05 06:08 pm Do you think that ospreys taste their food?

You can imagine it.....young osprey asking...what is it for dinner today??

Oh it is trout today says mum....

That is fish isn't it??

Yes just like yesterday, tomorrow, the day after tomorrow..

So do they eat just fill a need or do they just love the taste of fish??

Or do they just not taste??

Any thoughts??

DaveS 06/24/05 06:14 pm Apparantly they have a rather poor sense of smell, so maybe taste is not refined either.
Anne 06/24/05 06:19 pm Although birds have tongues, their sense of taste is poor, except in the case of parrots. Different species have evolved to eat different things and the osprey has become a super fishing machine. So their staple diet is fish. Maybe they eat to live, not like some humans who live to eat a wonderful variety of food!
Marie 06/24/05 09:09 pm As Anne says........different birds eat different things. If they all ate the same food there would be a lot more competition and agression. That would not be good.
Love your last sentance........;-)
