Haud your wheesh... Scottish for shut up!
Ya wee skunner.. Scottish for a bad lad
Away and boil your heed... get lost!...
( I am married to a Glasgow lad!)
Sneakers, as Pam said trainers, however, to me it's someone who creeps around.
Pants, trousers for you, bottom half underwear for us, BP = big pants!
Hoodie, sweatshirt type top with a hood, goodness knows what your version is.
And last but not least, Big Bird... ME !!!!!!!!!!!
Mickey, Tiger, Tim, sorry!
Vicki in S. CA. 07/31/05 01:37 am Zara, it's not just the words. The Scottish pronounciation is also novel. I am planning a trip to Glasgow and beyond and I referred to the Scottish Bird Center as being in North Berwick, pronouncing it as it is spelled. I was told by my Brit (actually Aussie) friend that it was Berrick, the W is silent. And never mind about Culzean Castle, forget that Z for sure. I just hope I can understand someone when I'm there!
Marie 07/31/05 10:56 pm Lol.........thanks ZARA.......
My bird expert frien in Aberdeen doesn't SPEAK like that. '-)
Thank you for all the interpretations or those THINGS.
I am clear now even though when I go to England each year to see my family I always have to think what is it they are saying. ;-) when they refer to things that have different names here in Canada . And we all talk English supposedly. He He!
