Nancy L 08/15/05 08:31 am They will come back to their birth location, but not for a year or two. They stay in their migration area for at least a year before coming back . We probably could not recognize them.
RonS 08/15/05 08:54 am There have been discussions in the past on the bobbing heads. I believe it is due to the way their eyes process colors. They cannot distinguish the foreground from the background if the colors are nearly the same , i.e. various shades of green. The bobbing from side to side helps them.
Melanie 08/15/05 09:48 am Not just the colors, but the main reason is since their eyes are not in the front of their heads like an owl and they are visual hunters, it helps them focus.
Marie 08/15/05 03:58 pm We may never know if and when these two will return. Survival rate is only 40% during their first year/migration........we just look forward to seeing ospreys show up in March 2006....who ever the lucky ones are that will have the good luck to secure this nest for their own.
