Just browsing through your photo gallery. How do I tell the difference between the Great and Snowy Egrets? |

Nancy, the Snowy is smaller, has a black bill, black legs and yellow feet. that leg/feet thing is pretty startling. The Great has a yellow bill and black legs and feet. Obviously not quite the fashion sense of the Snowy. |

Just an aside - we once had a guy came to our Bird Club to give a talk and demonstration on birds by jiz. It was so funny but the best one of all was his impersonation of a Little Egret. He took his shoes off and put a pair of yellow rubber gloves on his feet. Then he stood on a table and stalked around very cautiously. It was hilarious - and I have never forgotten that Little Egrets have yellow feet! |

That is a great image I will remember! I get both birds in the marsh and always got confused ...not any more. |

Nancy snowy egrets also chase prey(fish) as the one in the picture is actually running fast.
The great stands still and waits for his meal.
I found a spot where near 100 snowy egrets perch in trees at night,I'm gonna try and capture an image of them. |
