||I just checked the Blackwater website. I've been missing a lot of action. Some lovely captures in the gallery of a beautiful pair of bald eagles recently (this month) warning off visitors to the nest. I think the visitors included a bunch of turkey vultures.

||I believe there's a picture of a turkey vulture sitting on the nest, and it appears to be headless. I know it's not, but take a look. I can't see the head LOL

||Most of those pictures are of black vultures - turkey vultures have a very red head.

||I asked our ranger about that. I wondered if any were black vultures. He said he thought most of them were turkey vultures and immature turkey vultures (which have black heads). He said he also thought that sometimes the camera dims the coloring on the birds (which it can do).
But personally, I think some of them do look like black vultures.

||We've got a flock of black vultures who have been scrounging here in Annapolis for a couple of years so I was basing my observation on that. It's more than a little disoncerting when they line up on the roofline of a local funeral parlor!
