Thread subject: Eagles at Race Rocks

||The eagles are beginning to come on to the main rock now and hopefully we will be seeing a lot more soon. Yesterday I saw one young eagle and one which looked about 4 years old. They didn't stay long, they were resting whilst hunting. Plenty of food around but it still needs catching - frustrating when the birds float past in flotillas on the water when you are hungry. The tides are very high just now and the wildlife takes shelter where it can from the wind and rain. I have added one or two more pictures to the December RR album at:

||YES PAM, the tides are so HIGH right now. Thanks for sharing those captures once again. Good to know all those eagles might be moving in to RR once again. I look forward to more pics. ;-)

||Wonderful pictures Pam. Can you or Marie tell me which cormorant we are seeing there?
Big storms coming in to the west coast this weekend. We think.

||There is a mixture of Brandt's, Pelagic and maybe Double Crested too, but with the birds being a mixture of adult and immature it is very difficult to tell sometimes, but I will have another look at the pics and try and name some of them.

||Pam, thanks for the great picts - enjoyed them!

||I think most of the Cormorants are Pelagic that you post Pam, especially those with the green sheen. Storm after storm comes our way from the south....with really high tides. One blessing is that it is so mild! Sweater weather. Not coat weather till after dark. I even saw BLOSSOMS on some trees around the hospital this morning..;-) dainty pink flowers if you can imagine. .....the season has gone mad!
