Thread subject: A White Victoria

Marie 01/08/05 09:17 am Here on the West Coast we are blanketed in the white STUFF! The winds off the water are bitterly cold. Now this isn't usual for balmy Victoria. Brrrrrr! Those of you out east are used to these conditions but we aren't and most of us hate it. I am busy keeping my hummingbird fluid liquid for everyday I see those little creatures dashing around trying to keep warm. They have to be feeding very frequently. I am simply amazed to see them survive each day when it has been so cold. We do know that they go into a state of 'TORPOR' overnight. It would be so interesting to find out exactly where these little birds hide at night...but I am not willing to stand out at dusk in these cold temperatures to see where they go...one day perhaps when it warms up. Happy January to you all. No wonder Osprey migrate south. Cathy is basking in temps of 80 degrees in Mexico right now. She hasn't seen an osprey down there yet, but that is because she is inland I believe.
Celeste 01/10/05 06:03 pm The weather seems to be very strange this year, (I am knocking on wood right now), but so far New York's weather has not been consistently frigid. I hope we won't have to "pay in the Spring"! As soon as I post this message we will have a forecast of a major snowstorm!
Lori 01/10/05 08:50 pm Celeste, I would love to have a major snowstorm!!! I think snow is way cool!!! I don't ski either. :-) I want it to snow now though, not in March
Celeste 01/10/05 09:31 pm Your right Lori, if it is going to snow let it snow now. It's especially nice if you don't have to drive in it! I just heard in Minneapolis the high on Thursday will be minus 7! Now that I can live without!
Marie 01/12/05 01:02 am Smile.......Celeste it was minus 6 last night here but today it got to plus 4. I have just got in from a meeting and it has to be mild for it is raining and not SNOWING, thank goodness. It is plus 5 right now at 10pm. Now that is more like Victoria!
However, they say snow is on its way AGAIN.......brrrrr!
