Thread subject: A "different dynamic" at Blackwater

Celeste 03/19/05 04:24 pm We are used to watching the parent osprey ignore the chicks in the nest when they seem to be in danger, (too close to the edge of the nest for example)....Blackwater has some great shots that were taken at dusk of an eaglet who was determined to venture to the edge of the nest....the parent eagle is shown leading the chick to the center of the nest.....amazing!
Tiger 03/19/05 04:45 pm The time on those shots are around 9.30pm so that was actually happening in pitch darkness. We can only see it because they have some sort of infra device on the camera.

Marie 03/19/05 09:40 pm Those pictures are so lovely.......a new plus for the eagles after I pointed out all their faults last evening. Don't get me wrong....I love eagles and spend a great deal of time with them....like today. I found a three going on four year old, standing on a lamp standard in a busy area where people fly their kites, walk their dogs, where gulls gather and where humans slam their car doors in order to stand and take in the view. Right by the ocean of course. It was a grey, cold and drizzly day, but the immature eagle watched the activity below for quite a while till the gulls took note and harrassed it. Got a few pics of it as it was so close.......I haven't seen one this close nor one of this age. Filled the frame as they say in photography terms....
cathy 03/20/05 12:28 am I couldn't find the shots you were referring to, Celeste. Are they in the captured photos group 5?
Celeste 03/20/05 05:32 am Cathy I went back on the Blackwater Page and today I can't seem to find it.....Lisa the Webmaster daily has a tidbit about the eagles and this was yesterday's info on the eagle cam page. Today she is discussing the their site having two cams,(osprey and eagle with 60 sec waits).
