Tiger 03/31/05 11:15 am For those of you following Bluebeard there are a new set of maps. He has just left Florida.

Wonder if there are any young imposters in his nest?

karen 03/31/05 03:51 pm He is really moving! will be interesting to see if who got there ahead of him as he does seem to be late migrating north ... hope the site keeps us informed!
Matt 03/31/05 09:50 pm Would this consider to be late for an Osprey?
Marie 04/01/05 02:43 am These maps are awesome......
What an incredible male osprey this Bluebeard is.
I love the notation that he had flown across water non stop for 29 hrs and is averaging almost 300 km a day now. It took him 31 days to get to his wintering grounds in Columbia last fall. He is almost at his breeding grounds after only 12 days on the FLY...and yes Matt I do believe this is late migration for an osprey. Maybe he is trying to prove something...The URGE to get home is far greater in the spring than in the fall it seems. No doubt he may well find that his love-in-the-nest has a new mate by now. :-))
Tiger 04/01/05 04:00 am I think that ospreys vary quite a lot in their migration time. Those that come early, come early year after year and similarly those that leave it a bit later.

I do not know what the latest date for laying osprey eggs in the USA is but in Britain it is on May 22.

I agree that Bluebeard seems a wonderful osprey and satellite tracking helps us to see that.
