Thread subject: Trouble nest building!

Pam 04/18/05 04:34 pm Don't want to be disloyal to OUR cam but have just had quite an entertaining five minutes at Woods Hole where the birds have brought in a huge catapult shaped branch, one fork of which is sticking right into the centre of the nest. The female spent a long while pushing one branch into the side of the nest only to have the other one spring out into her head area - she then tried to push that one into the side and the other one sprang out. Finally after struggling for quite a while, the male arrived and she left him to it. He was not too much help and was contemplating what to do most of the time, but did make a few useless attempts to get it out of the way and after they failed and he nearly got his eye poked out he flew off. The nest is empty now and the branch is still there !!!!!
Marie 04/18/05 06:02 pm Pam you are very entertaining to read...Your 'Global' observations can only add to all the wealth of info stored in each of our brains on the subject of OSPREYS.
Celeste 04/18/05 06:33 pm It must have been really funny to watch...just checked nest now and the male is standing at the edge of the nest...perhaps he managed to straighten things up as the nest is now clear.
Kathy 04/18/05 08:09 pm I look at the Woods Hole also but I have never seen much activity. Thanks for the observation and the laugh.
