Thread subject: WHOI nest
Name Date Message
Melanie 05/31/05 10:51 am Looks like poppa bird has brought in some pretty green ribbons for his lady love. It also looks like there is a lot of pine needles in the bowl. 1st chickage should be sometime around the end of this week?
karen 05/31/05 11:44 am Hi Melanie what site is WHOI nest?
Melanie 05/31/05 12:05 pm http://128.128.32.108/view/view.shtml
Tiger 05/31/05 12:07 pm That looks very like a Woods Hole osprey Melanie!
Melanie 05/31/05 12:10 pm it is. WHOI is the acronym for Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute (affectionately pronounced who-ee)
Tiger 05/31/05 12:14 pm Yes but the URl shows the osprey not the GHO!
karen 05/31/05 12:17 pm Thanks I did not recognize the acroynm!
Melanie 05/31/05 12:17 pm Are you sure we are on the mental same page? I was talking about the green ribbons in the Woods Hole nest. How did we get to a Great Horned Owl - or am I missing something (which is entirely possible at this juncture of life) :-p
Tiger 05/31/05 12:20 pm Sorry.......
I totally misread the acroynm. For some reason I was reading it as GHO not WHOI.

One of those moments when one puts the tea into the sugar bowl.

Sorry.
Mickey 05/31/05 03:29 pm Mel......Ive watched that nest all weekend and the green ribbon has been there since Saturday....maybe longer.I only watched there because the Hen was acting very jittery and I thought a egg was gunna hatch. Well I was wrong of course :)
Melanie 05/31/05 04:08 pm I've been on dialup since Thursday, soresolution of some of the nests is sometimes dicey for me. I've GOT to get on DSL. Story of my life - a day late and a buck short!
Tiger 06/01/05 06:11 am If this nest goes to 38 days for first hatching, like most nests seem to do, then tomorrow is hatching day!
