Thread subject: Question on nest on Sunrise Hwhy
Name Date Message
karen 05/31/05 04:33 pm I saw this nest for the first time Sunday ( Sunrise at the Southern State ) and I think this is the one talked about on this board sometimes? Where do those birds fish? Do they go to the Atlantic or are there rivers nearby? It is amazing to see a nest in such a populated area. It is the first time I have seen that in person altho I have seen the photos of the nests on the ballfield lights.
Celeste 05/31/05 04:37 pm Karen those osprey are fishing in the Connetquot River. We also talk about nests right on the Sunrise part of the Connetquot River eco-system. Than there is another nest on the Sunrise near Great River.
Mickey 05/31/05 04:42 pm the great south bay isint far away as the osprey flies either. But Celeste nailed it.Why fly to the bay when theres a active trout fishery within a poop rocket from the nest *wink*
karen 05/31/05 09:05 pm Thanks!
Tim P 05/31/05 09:36 pm It's cool seeing Osprey flying with a trophy sized trout over the Sunrise Highway during rush hour.
