Pam 02/21/07 04:05 pm The TV programme 'Nature's Calendar' will feature Rutland Water, its Ospreys and its Nightingales, tomorrow, Thursday at 6pm GMT for anyone able to watch.
Anne 02/22/07 06:50 am Oooh thanks Pam. I will record that!
lynn 02/22/07 01:52 pm Pam is this program on Animal Planet or Discovery or Learning Channels here in the states? I'd like to watch it if it is.
Pam 02/22/07 04:16 pm Lynn - I'm sorry but don't have an answer to your question. To get a flavour of the programme with some nice video clips, particularly of the sea eagle, you can go to:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/naturescalendar/spring/clips/index.shtml
There is not a clip on the Osprey yet however but sometimes they put it on about week later. May be worth a look then.
Anne 02/22/07 05:25 pm Pam - tomorrows programme is about Woolston Eyes which is near Warrington. It is the main breeding site for Black-necked grebes which are beautiful birds in summer plumage. They are similar to Slavonian grebes but smaller.
Pam 02/22/07 05:54 pm Thanks Anne - will watch that. Your neck of the woods isn't it?
Anne 02/23/07 11:27 am Yes its not far. I used to have a permit but I found the place very creepy - on the banks of the Manchester Ship canal underneath Thelwall Viaduct on the M6.
Anne 02/23/07 01:45 pm Ooops - my info was not reliable! Still, Thetford and the Falls of Clyde were very interesting.
Pam 02/23/07 02:25 pm The Falls of Clyde video with the peregrines is on the website. I realised I was not going to see Woolston Eyes tonight ...
Anne 02/23/07 05:08 pm Maybe next week? I know that the cameras have spent a season at Woolston Eyes.
Marie 02/24/07 12:11 pm I tried to access the film strip but they say.
''we are sorry we can't bring you the fildm strip requested. ''

So that is what we are up against in North America.
Too bad.
