Thread subject: What About The Egg

||Does anyone have an Idea where the missing egg went? Is there a name for the unborn sibbling? (Jane Doe)?

||How about Joe Egg

||We nicknamed the unhatched egg in the Finland osprey nest Waldo, as in "where's waldo" - it blends in so well that it was always a challenge to see if it was still there. :~)

||Waldo sounds good, cause the egg was always moving around after the chicks were born... any other ideas?

||The egg was probably buried.........Someone said a few days ago that they had seen Betty digging in the nest and only a part of the egg was showing .
I have seen eagles bury their dead offspring in the walls of the nest. We have even seen Betty bury one of her dead chicks from a previous year. She buried it in the nest wall and dragged it out hours later.................we all know what happened next. ;-(

||I say forget about it. The egg, for all intents and purposes, is gone, either buried or carried away. It plays no role in the future of the nest.

||Mel--Reminds me of an old folk song: "Poor Howard's dead and gone..."

||Or from Oklahoma:
Pore Jud is daid, Pore Jud Fry is daid.
All gather 'round his coffin now and cry
He had a heart of gold And he wasn't very old
Oh, why did such a fella have to die?
My apologies - I'm having a musical theatre afternoon
