Pamela 09/01/07 10:21 am After checking the count daily for the osprey, yesterday nine osprey were recorded to have been seen. This is the highest number noted on one day since the count began on Aug. 15. Forty-two have been sighted to date.
FOB Webmaster 09/01/07 06:27 pm We haven't seen many ospreys on the Blackwater platform lately, but one showed up yesterday. Made me wonder if it was an osprey migrating down the coast.
Melanie 09/02/07 11:02 pm A friend and I toook of for an impromptu adventure that was initially planned as a 20 mile run to an outlet mall to buy a pair of shoes. Within a very short time, it turned into a 2 day, 350 mile loop down the Eastern Shore of Maryland, through Blackwater and on to Ocean City for a day of Boardwalk, funnel cake, salt water taffy, fudge, caramel corn, lemonade, souvenir shops, carnival rides and other "shore things" . . . . (it's called aversion therapy. I can't face another carb). Passing through Maryland (and Blackwater environs) we saw NO OSPREY in flight, nor any bald eagles. Just lots of black vultures.

On Sunday we left Ocean City to drive up Rte 1 along the Delaware coast to Rehoboth and at one point during the 6 miles stretch of Delaware Seashore State Park, we saw one osprey chick still on a platform and about 5 osprey circling overhead. Rob Bierregaard has tagged a few of the DelSea chicks there.
