Thread subject: Japanese whale killing

||Some really good news. Japan has agreed to halt killing Humpback Whales for at least 1-2 years. The public outcry against their cruelty has been so huge they have agreed to back off with regard to Humpbacks at least. However, the battle is not yet fully won, they still intend to continue killing Minke and fin whales for scientific reasons. Thanks to all of you who did your bit by signing the petition.

||Here's an article with details.
Very good news. The new Australian gov't really stepped up and got involved. Excellent to see, and a big difference from the conservative gov't under Howard.

||You can follow the Greenpeace ship with this BBC diary HERE .
My brother lives in New Zealand and he says the Kiwis are giving the Japs hell over this. They are already outraged at the long liners decimating all the albatrosses.

||Thanks all, for the info. Great news regarding the Humback Whales! Checked out all the links and then some, and gained some more knowledge re. Japan's "research" useof killed whales. I have to wonder if they really think the world at large buys the "research" reasoning for killing whales!?

||Fabulous news Pam,
I hope the voices on that petition can save a few other whales species.
If the Japanese want to survive as a Nation they better look toward other forms of food because if they deplete the seas of their kind of food they will perish just like other animals that fail to adapt to the environment they find themselves living in.
I believe they call it , Darwin's theory of adaptation.
