Mickey 04/04/10 10:31 am are there any tree`s left there ??? :)
FOB Webmaster 04/04/10 01:57 pm Yeah, we have trees, but they're not the kind the ospreys like. They're normally loblolly pine trees in dense forests, or they're dead trees, but they lack branches where the birds could build a nest.

The eagles don't mind having something over them, so they love the loblolly pine trees. And that's why we have such a big bald eagle population.

But most of our ospreys nest on artificial platforms, either in the water or on land -- like the Osprey Cam nest.

I wanted our staff to put up more artificial nests this year, but I think they don't like too many because the nests take a beating over the winter, then they have to go out and repair or replace them.
Mickey 04/04/10 04:37 pm it was a tongue in cheek question. Because the cam pair are working at break neck speed building their summer digs up :)
FOB Webmaster 04/05/10 07:39 am Oh, sorry. :-)

I thought it was in relation to me saying in the other thread that we have tons of ospreys but not enough nests.

Yes, someone "goosed" our pair into action. So glad to see it looking like a real nest now.
pccompton 04/06/10 02:53 pm Someone must have finally showed them your post from the website :)
FOB Webmaster 04/06/10 09:14 pm They needed some motivation. :-)
