Thread subject: Henlopen - 2nd chick on the way?
Name Date Message
Melanie 06/03/10 03:46 pm She's been very antsy, looking down and keeping both eggs pushed to the front, both barely under her. She has even been "kicking" one around - gently of course. The chick has been "outside" all day and has had several good feedings. Both parent's are being very attentive.
Melanie 06/04/10 10:28 am This morning shows a healthy active 5 day old chick and I can't even see the two other eggs. Which is not to say they are not there, but the camera angle does not allow a good view. It is probably a good thing at this point if the two remaining eggs don't hatch because having one chick nearly a full week older than the next chick means any subsequent chicks would not have a very good shot at surviving.
martyc35 06/04/10 12:25 pm Yes, I looked yesterday after you posted, Mel, but that camera closeup, while nice for viewing mom O, doesn't allow enough room to see anything else, so I gave up. Let's hope for a successful nest, whichever way it goes.

Melanie 06/04/10 12:53 pm They have repositioned and zoomed back out - only one chick is visible. It's hot here today - it will reach around 90 with humidity to match and Dad is busy being a good parasol.
