Nancy L 06/20/10 01:55 pm I just realized I answered your Kayak question on the preceeding page (Katie Luther.)
Lori 06/20/10 02:42 pm Thanks Nancy! If you don't go from the floating dock on the Carmens, where do you get in & out? Went yesterday, getting a little bit more comfortable with getting out, had my husband hold the kayak steady while I climbed out :) Didn't tip!!! Still don't think I'd try it on my own tho...
terryo 06/20/10 03:01 pm Lori because I carry my camera and binocs with me I keep about half the kayak out of water, I get in, grab all my equipment, snacks etc and use my paddle to push the rest of the kayak into the water. I got tired of flipping over. My knee replacement a few years ago doesn't allow me to flex my knee 100% so I have to do it this way.
Pamela 06/20/10 06:02 pm Lori and Terry, thanks for the info. This enormous project of getting in and out may put the kibosh on the whole idea :-b
Nancy L 06/21/10 11:21 am My husband kayaks the Carmans & I've not been with him to see how he does it. I have only done the Connetquot and up in the Adirondacks - where I could always put in from a beach. I'm hoping to do the Carmans early on the 4th (before the crowds) when we have our annual paddle with 3 of our grandchildren. With them getting bigger & the oldest (almost 10) paddling on his own now, I was thinking of taking my kayak this time. We had previously been 8 of us in 2 canoes,
