New Female Identity Known!
Thanks to several volunteers out there (SgB from BCAW capture the photo this am!) keeping close watch on the ledgecam, the new female's leg bands were read today! Her color band on the left leg is all black with the code: 32/X. (Carly from Canada had the info) This bird is "Durand" from the 2009 nest in Hamilton, Ontario Canada!
The nest is located on a Sheraton Hotel-There is a webcam on that nest (although discontinued for this season) and detailed information from each nesting year is provided by the Hamilton Community Peregrine Project.
Anne UK1 07/19/10 03:38 am Am I reading that right Beth? I just looked at Google Earth and (as the falcon flies) I make that a distance of over 800 miles. Wow!
BETH-OH 07/19/10 07:06 am Yes Anne, it is a long way to Ohio from her birth site...So exciting!
Anne UK1 07/19/10 12:57 pm I wasn't aware Peregrines travelled far from their birth place. I'll have to check the diary pages and find out more. Thanks Beth :)
