Thread subject: Funny and cute poem: The Youngster's Cry
Name Date Message
Shelley 08/12/10 09:51 am Posted today on the LOTL blog, by a poster named Erica:

The Youngster̢۪s Cry.

I wish, oh, I wish
I could catch my own fish.
They̢۪re delicious and sweet,
(Though they get stuck in my feet).

It ought to be easy,
But it just makes me queasy.
I haven̢۪t the knack,
I̢۪m on the wrong tack.
The loch rears up fast
And too late, I̢۪m past.
I haven̢۪t the nerve,
At the last moment I swerve.
.
But I‘m determined to fish
For my own tasty dish.

This made me chuckle. Further down in the blog comments, someone asked if the chicks actually catch their own fish before migration and one of the rangers replied, not usually though it can happen. So my question is, if they are not successful in catching their own fish, and they don't fly with a parernt, how on earth do they survive migration??!
Melanie 08/12/10 11:40 am If they don't learn they starve. Hunger is a great motivator
