martyc35 11/14/10 12:41 pm There are four shots that I saved (still working on this camera and my skills), but these will give you the general idea. ONE, TWOTHREE, and FOUR. These are all from inside the glass door, but at least I stood up and got closer this time:-). I think the color is quite true. See how he hides behind the stone wall and makes it hard to get a good shot? While I was struggling with this guy, last year's Varied Thrush showed up and more or less thumbed his nose at me. I'll get him, but it may take awhile. Pam, thanks for your patience. Would love to have seen that hawk in your garden, but I know how it feels to be standing there, watching, with the camera nowhere in sight. marty
Shelley 11/14/10 12:55 pm Beautiful! We don't see stellar's here, only the loud and rowdy Blue Jay, one of my favourites! Your pics are certainly good enough to see that wonderful colour, though! I keep hoping the Blue Jays will leave a feather or two for me one of these days. I only ever find sparrow, chickadee and mourning dove feathers in my yard (mostly from olting). I did find a cardinal feather once
Lori 11/14/10 06:16 pm Hey Marty, those are great shots! Keep up the good work & thanks for sharing with us :)
Celeste 11/14/10 08:46 pm Those are great shots Marty, especially through glass doors. Never see stellar's here either.
Melanie 11/14/10 10:53 pm Very lovely jay!

I've had a Flicker out in the oak tree outside my bedroom window all day yesterday. I was never able to see him, but he's been out there squawking up a storm for several hours.
Pam 11/15/10 09:39 am Lovely Marty, you did it !! You are so lucky having such a beautiful bird visit your garden. Now I want to see a pic of the Varied Thrust thumbing his nose at you please :-))
martyc35 11/15/10 01:18 pm Thanks for the encouragement, all. I plan a trip out to the bay to look at shore birds soon, so more practice with the camera is in store. We shall see...
