Thread subject: 'OUR' DPOF nest
Name Date Message
Nancy L 04/03/11 08:18 pm Could they possible have laid an egg this early? The earlliest I have on record for our nest is April 5th in '04. Around 5:30 this evening, I stopped by with my binoculars and there was definitely an osprey sitting down in the nest. I could see it's head looking about.
Tiger 04/04/11 06:19 am Well the Glaslyn birds in Wales laid an egg on 2nd April and that is a new record. So not impossible for DPOF to have done similar.
terryo 04/04/11 07:08 am Tks for report Nancy, I tried to get on river yesterday but it was to windy for me.
Nancy L 04/04/11 11:23 am Yes, Terry - as we crossed the river (& there WERE 2 paddlers there at their cars) I thought of you but commented on the wind. Then we went down to the end of Beaver Dam Road, & a guy had just come off the river with his kayak. Have you ever tried putting in there? There is a ramp. Anyway, he said he saw at least 4 osprey fishing in the river.
taman 04/04/11 03:35 pm I find the dock at Glacier Bay a lot easier for me to put in. Plus I leave my camera equipment on the dock till I'm firmly in my kayak, I don't feel comfortable at the B. Dam put in, not a lot of space to maneuver to get in etc. Plus there's osprey nests I like to check on further north up river.
Anne-UK1 04/04/11 05:30 pm Thanks Nancy. It's sad we can't all look in like we used to, but I'm looking forward to updates and photos.
Celeste 04/04/11 10:40 pm I would think if she is sitting she is nesting!?
