I'm enjoying a beautiful, picture perfect Easter morning - it's warm, there's a light breeze, I'm enjoying a lovely cup of Jasmine tea with the cat is snuggled in my lap when all of a sudden my reverie is pieced by increasingly strident calls overhead. The cat wakes up, I put the tea down and poke my head out the door. Lo and behold there are 5 ospreys dancing around each other, yelling like there is no tomorrow.
Sounds like Spring Break has arrived in town

Awww, that is just delightful. Wish they would dance around here. But, no, it is raining, and I would have to spend precious petrol to drive out and watch them by the bay. But I have the birds in the yard, so I should not compain. Oh, a hawk found them last night, but I don't think it got anybody, just cruising through and casing the joint, I think.Couldn't be sure what kind of hawk, but I think a Cooper's, as it looked a little large for a Sharp-shinned, but too small to be a red-shouldered..

Nice Melanie...wonderful sounds of spring! That must have been quite a sight! I have never seen 5 osprey flying around together...well not this early in the season...
A male and his offspring might have shown up at the Lagoon in late August , here inVictoria.

Sounds lovely. Once I was camped at a mountain lake in Oregon and there must have been 10 or more ospreys circling. I didn't know very much about ospreys at the time, but now think they may have been migrating through. Perhaps the lake was stocked.

Fantastic Melanie! I wish they would dance round my way - maybe one day.
