Anne 06/06/11 06:32 am Check this out, there's some amazing footage HERE.
Pam 06/06/11 08:06 am WOW is all I can say !!!! Just amazing footage.
We have actually seen ospreys swimming before though I believe.
Have been so busy loon watching I haven't checked on ospreys lately.
Melanie 06/06/11 09:05 am Or as we used to say in the Air Force - Damn, Sam!

Dennis would bring back flounder/flukes which are nearly as big but didn't have nearly the girth as that one. I'm impressed!
Anne-UK1 06/06/11 09:28 am That is (or was) a huge fish! I'm so glad 5R managed to get safely to land with it - I'd be even gladder if he went for slightly smaller ones in future. This nest looks like being very successful this year - two chicks hatched within twelve hours of each other and the third I think arrived the next day, so with food seemingly abundant and the weather doing it's bit so far as well it all looks good for a full house on fledging :)
martyc35 06/06/11 02:12 pm Amazing! I had to replay the video several times just to be sure of what I was seeing. Well done, 5R! That's one for the osprey archives.

Marie 06/06/11 05:50 pm WOW! That is amazing...I have been there with Pam.;-)

Lovely place to watch Ospreys. !
Celeste 06/07/11 05:20 am That is the BEST story! Imagine seeing him trying to bring that fish in and back to the nest...having to eat it to get it a good weight is ingenious on his part don't you think? 5R must now have a "reputation" among the seagulls, etc., and my never be able to fish in peace! :-)
Pam 06/07/11 11:53 am You know, thinking about that incident...it could have been quite dangerous. If he had got his feet stuck in the fish as sometimes seems to happen he could have drowned. Maybe he was swimming for his life as well as his dinner.
DaisyG 06/07/11 03:08 pm Yes agree Pam. So glad all ended up ok. That fish was HUGE.
