Thread subject: First osprey chicks to hatch in mid Wales in 400 years :)
Name Date Message
Anne-UK1 06/07/11 07:38 am No webcam unfortunately, but some delightful clips on the Dyfi you tube site to watch. Three hatched in three days - link

I gather they were a little concerned that the female is having to learn as she goes along - first feeding wasn't too successful apparently, but someone reported that afterwards she was seen standing on the edge of the nest, tearing tiny pieces off the fish and passing them to an imaginary chick. I wish their was footage of that!

This female is a three year old who hatched at Rutland - great news for their project's aim of restoring ospreys across southern Britain.
martyc35 06/07/11 11:05 am Great news! And the clip showing mom feeding the chicks is wonderful. So great to see.

Anne 06/07/11 11:18 am Great news isnt it. A little bird told me that a certain person was actually there when it happened - - - - - - - - - - -
Anne-UK1 06/07/11 11:21 am Marty, they've changed the article since I posted. I can't see the link to their youtube page any more so I've added it - here - all short clips I think, but great viewing.

Anne-UK1 06/07/11 11:23 am I think I know who that was Anne. I look forward to his first hand report on the big event :)
Pam 06/07/11 12:00 pm I saw this on Springwatch last night. We seem to be getting things right at last here in UK. Not sure about the re-introduction of beavers though.
DaisyG 06/07/11 02:28 pm LOL a certain TWO people Anne :))
