Thread subject: Interesting News From Rob Bierregaard
Name Date Message
Tiger 07/16/11 02:38 pm There has been a fairly lengthy update from Rob but I was struck by this one.

Tucker, our newly
tagged adult male from Long Island was killed when he flew into a bus
(!) a month after we tagged him. His mate has been successfully
raising at least 1 young as a single mom.

Wasn't this tagging mentioned here some time ago?
DaisyG 07/16/11 02:49 pm Was just reading his email just now Tiger. What a quirky accident! Wonder what happened there?
Great that the female has been successful in raising the young.
Celeste 07/17/11 08:45 am Gosh I wonder exactly where? Does his newsletter say where on Long Island? There are bus's here, but it's not like they are filing our roads like they do in the city.

Peter 07/17/11 12:01 pm Tucker was caught in the same nest as North Fork Bob last year in Mattituck.

The news of his untimely demise was mentioned in the email as noted above.
Tim P 07/17/11 05:30 pm Lots of buses on the roadway out there this time of year. Tourists traveling to vineyards. I was blown away when I first heard about it. This is the bird we initially intended on capturing last year. North fork bob was in transit and couldn't resist the bait. Tuckers mate is raising one chick on her own.
