Thread subject: Norfolk Eaglets being released Wednesday
Name Date Message
Melanie 07/25/11 12:28 pm The Wildlife Center of Virginia has been diligently raising the three Bald Eagle chicks from the Norfolk Botanical Gardens after their mother died after colliding with a plane in April. After a talon and feather check-up, WCV has determined that they are ready to be released. One of the tricks they used to introduce them to the idea of fishing was to put live fish in a barrel of water and leave them in their "pen" where there is lots of flying room.

The youngsters will be released Wednesday morning at 11:00 a.m. from the Berkeley Plantation in Charles City VA., an eagle rich area. If you happen to be in the Williamsburg area, you can contact the WCV for reservations, but for the rest of us, the best place to watch will be online at WVEC.COM who will stream Wednesday's release live beginning about 11:00 a.m
Melanie 07/25/11 12:36 pm Now they are reporting it will be a QUINTUPLE release as they will be releasing two other bald eagles who have been rehabbed at the same time. WCV Link

Anne-UK1 07/25/11 05:48 pm Oh those poor fish! lol

They've done a great job with these eaglets - I do wonder about the crowds who will be attending the release but presumably they won't be allowed too close. So good to have a positive ending to this story. Thanks Melanie :)
