I just came across this on weather.com about a man in Louisiana who has over 100 hummingbirds hanging out on his porch. The birds started showing up after Hurricanes Gustav and Ike in 2008.

A friend sent me that link yesterday. It's kind of weird, in a Hitchcock sort of way. Personally, I'd be thrilled if I had even one or 2 regulars..... but 100 does seem a bit excessive (and unhealthy)

I would love to just see one! Frank saw one last year at this time, probably migrating, and it paused at a pot on my steps and left. I had just missed it!

Wow!
Come on by Celeste.
I have Allen's hummers year round.

With the exception of the occasional vagrant we generally get only Ruby Throats on the East Coast. Sigh.

We have Allen's and Anna's here. In my climate, a semi-hardy fuschia bush makes it nearly all year round, so I don't even put out feeders for the hummers. Lucky me.
